What is Variable Pricing?
Evie is trialling Variable Pricing at selected charging stations. This means that cheaper pricing will apply when it’s less busy and higher pricing will apply during busy times.
How will I know when Off-Peak times and Busy times are for a site?
When you select a plug to charge, “Variable Pricing” will automatically display, listing the times when Off-Peak pricing will apply and the busy times when higher pricing will apply. You can also check when the site is usually more or less busy by selecting the “Site Details” tab located next to “Plug Selection”
What happens if my charge session takes place between an Off-Peak and a Busy window? How will I be charged?
If you are charging when the pricing period switches over, you’ll be charged the other rate from that point on.
Let’s break it down so it’s easy-peasy:
- The Off-Peak Pricing window is between 9 pm – 10 am
- The Busy window is between 10 am – 9 pm
If you started your charge at 9:45 am and stopped your charge at 10:15 am, from 9:45 am to 10 am you’ll be charged the off-peak pricing and from 10 am to 10:15 am, you’ll be charged the busy window pricing.
After every completed charge session you’ll automatically be sent a charging receipt to the email address associated with your Evie account. This receipt will display the breakdown of costs for the total duration of their charge session.
If you are unsure about pricing, please always refer to the Evie app before starting a charge.
I usually use an RFID card to charge - how will I know what the price is?
We recommend referring to the Evie App to stay up-to-date on the latest prices. With the app, “Variable Pricing” details will automatically display when you select a charging station. This includes the timings where Off-Peak Pricing will apply and popular timings where higher pricing will apply.
