There are two easy ways to set up Autocharge:
During a charge, or
From your vehicle page in the Evie app
You'll need:
- A compatible vehicle added to your account
- A credit or debit card as your payment method (Apple Pay and PayPal aren't supported)
- At least one completed charge on a compatible charger

To set up Autocharge during a charge
This is the easiest way to activate Autocharge as you can do it while your vehicle is charging.
Step 1. Start a charge
Using the Evie app, start a charge as you normally would. If your saved vehicle is compatible for Autocharge, you will see the Turn On Autocharge button.
Tap the Turn On Autocharge button.
Step 2. Confirm the vehicle you're charging
We'll ask you to confirm that the vehicle plugged in is the one saved in your Evie account. We have no way of checking this ourselves, so we need you to tell us.
Tap Yes if it's the same vehicle.
If you're charging a different vehicle, tap No - Autocharge can only be set up for the vehicle saved in your account, so you won't be able to continue.
Step 3. You're set up!
You'll see confirmation that Autocharge is on for this vehicle, and next time you plug in your charge will start automatically without needing to open the Evie app.
If you're paying with Apple Pay or PayPal
Autocharge needs a credit or debit card, so if your charge was started with Apple Pay or PayPal you'll see a note that there's one more step to complete.
Payment methods can't be changed while you're charging. Once this charge finishes, switch to a credit or debit card in your payment settings and Autocharge will be ready next time you plug in.
To set up Autocharge from your vehicle page
This is a handy way to set up Autocharge because you can do it from home, or any time you're not currently charging.
Step 1. Open your vehicle and tap Get Autocharge
In the Evie app, go to Profile, then Vehicle.
The vehicle page shows whether your vehicle is compatible with Autocharge. If it is, you'll see a Get Autocharge button - tap it to start.
If it isn't, that button won't appear. Read more about incompatible vehicles.
If you haven't added your vehicle yet, follow the prompts to search for your vehicle make and model - we'll tell you if its compatible for Autocharge.
Step 2. Choose a session your vehicle completed
We'll show you the charging sessions recorded on your account and ask you to pick one you're certain was completed by this vehicle.
This is the step that teaches us to recognise your car, so it's worth taking your time. If you're not sure about a session, choose a different one.
Two things you might notice in this list:
- Some sessions are crossed out. These were completed at chargers that don't support Autocharge, so we can't use them to set it up.
- Some sessions are labelled and selected for you. Once you pick a session, we look for other sessions likely completed by the same vehicle based on the vehicle's unique ID and select them too.
Once you've reviewed the past sessions and you're sure they belong to your saved vehicle, you tap the Confirm button.
If something doesn't look right in this sessions list, its a good idea to reach out to Evie to make sure you set up Autocharge on the correct vehicle. Alternatively, try activating Autocharge during a charge so you know you're setting up the right vehicle.
Step 3. You're set up!
Your vehicle page in your Profile will now show Autocharge as Activated and next time you plug in your charge will start automatically without needing to open the Evie app.
Checking Autocharge is working
Next time you plug in at a compatible charger, charging should begin on its own. It's worth watching the charger screen to confirm - you'll see a green tick, and energy will start flowing. The Active Charges tab in the app will show it too.
If you haven't turned on push notifications, now is a good time. We'll tell you when your charge starts and ends.
Turning Autocharge off
Go to the vehicle page in Profile, tap the Activated status, and choose either:
- Pause Autocharge - keeps your setup but stops it working for now, useful if you're lending your vehicle to someone
- Remove Autocharge - unlinks it from your account entirely
