How long should I charge?

When charging with Evie you are welcome to charge your vehicle to its full capacity of 100% state of charge. However, charging speed decreases significantly after 90%, making your charging less efficient and more time consuming.

We call this throttling - the automatic slowing of charging speeds, initiated by your vehicle, as the battery gets closer to full.

Imagine an empty movie theatre where the first guests to arrive can quickly choose whichever seats they like. As the theatre becomes more full the last guests to arrive have limited seating options and so must scan the theatre to find a seat and then shuffle past others to get there. Your vehicle battery stores energy in a similar way.

This means you will notice that it takes significantly longer to charge from 90-100% when charging on a fast charger.

So, when your charge reaches 90%, consider freeing up the charging bay for someone else. It's a small gesture that can make a big difference to others.
