Associating RFIDs

An RFID on its own is just a piece of plastic. To activate your RFID card for use in your fleet, you will need to associate it with a vehicle.

To do so, just visit the RFIDs page.

From the All tab on this page you will see all your organisations RFIDs and their various status (Associated, Unassociated and Disabled). To view these status categories separately, we have provided tabs along the top of your RFID list to quickly filter each view.

There are 2 ways that you can associate an RFID to make is ready for use, individually, or in bulk.

Individually Associating an RFID

Activate a single RFID card or fob for use in your fleet, you can do so by tapping on the Add RFID button in the top right of the portal.

This will open the Add RFID action panel where you can enter the details of your RFID card.

If wish to associate this RFID with a vehicle in your fleet you must enter a VIN and/or vehicle registration before saving.

You will also have the opportunity to add an editable Label once you have added a VIN and/or vehicle registration.

Once saved this RFID will be associated with this vehicle and will appear in the Associated RFIDs tab.

Note: once associated, VIN and vehicle registration can not be edited.

If you do not yet have a vehicle to associate your RFID card with, you can enter it here without a VIN or vehicle registration and once saved, it will appear in your Unassociated RFIDs tab - ready to be associated.

You can also enter Unassociated RFIDs in bulk

Bulk Associating RFIDs

For a larger order of RFIDs it may simpler bulk associate, you can do so by tapping on the Upload RFIDs button in the top right of the portal.

This will open the Bulk Associate RFIDs action panel where you can bulk associate up to 250 RFID cards and fobs at one time.

Download the CSV file template provided in this action panel to ensure the format of your upload will work.

Then fill in the 8 digit RFID alphanumeric codes unique to each of your RFIDs. You must also include a VIN and/or vehicle registration for each RFID for this upload/association to be successful.

Navigate to your updated .csv file by tapping the Choose File button.

Once your file is added you can tap Save RFID and your uploaded RFIDs will be added the the Associated RFIDs tab, ready to be used.

Note: in order for a bulk upload/association to be successful RFIDs must already exist in the Unassociated list. If your RFIDs are not yet in the Unassociated list, you can read more about Uploading Unassociated RFIDs.
