These can be located next to the car charge port or sometimes they are located within the vehicle, check your vehicle manual if you are unable to locate. Make sure your charging session has ended before attempting to release the plug.

CHAdeMO

If you press the release button on the plug before the electromagnetic lock is released is may become stuck. Make sure your charging session has ended before attempting to release the plug.

You can determine whether the electromagnetic lock has been released by checking to see if the red light has switched off on the handle of the connector. Once the electromagnetic lock releases, tap the plug with something, for example, a phone, in order to release the jammed latch.

Once it has been knocked free, you should be able to remove the connector.
